We offer a wide variety of running shoes, each with its own characteristics. Then how to know in what one model is different from another? To help you with this, we at 21Run present the Expert Opinion. This helps you get insight into the different characteristics of specific running shoe models.
The Expert Opinion is the way in which our running experts rate the model on a number of important elements. Do you already know which characteristics your new running shoes should have? Use the Expert Opinion to check if they meet your demands.
Degree of Pronation
The degree of pronation indicates the extent to which a model provides support for overpronating runners. If the orange bar is on the far right, the model gives a high degree of correction. If the orange bar is on the far left, the model does not correct. Neutral runners don’t need a correction, overpronating runners often do need a certain degree of correction.
Level of Support
The support level indicates to what extent the shoe provides support. This is related to the weight of the runner. If the orange bar is on the far left, the shoe provides little support, making the shoe more suitable for lighter runners. If the orange bar is on the far right, the shoe gives a lot of support, making the shoe very suitable for heavier runners.
Level of Cushioning
The cushioning level indicates the extent to which the shoe absorbs shocks that occur during landing phase. If the orange bar is on the far left, the shoe provides little cushioning. When wearing running shoes that provide little cushioning, you experience a lot of ground contact and responsiveness. If the orange bar is on the far right, the shoe provides a lot of cushioning. When wearing shoes with a lot of cushioning you will experience a softer running feel, but less ground contact and less responsiveness.
Level of Responsiveness
The level of responsiveness indicates how energetic a running shoe feels. We also call this the degree of reactivity. If the orange bar is on the far left, the shoe is less responsive. If the orange bar is on the far right, the shoe is very responsive. When a shoe is responsive you get back the energy you put into your stride during take-off phase.
The HOKA ONE ONE Rocket X for men and women is a neutral competition shoe. This newest HOKA model can be seen as the successor to the Carbon Rocket and the Carbon X models. The Rocket X is a lightweight racer that has been specially designed for running short distances at high velocities. Are you looking to run your fastest 10 k or half marathon ever? Then the Carbon Rocket is your shoe of choice. The very thin mesh upper provides high breathability and fits smoothly around the feet. The heel and tongue feature more structure than most other competition shoes. Thanks to this extra structure you'll experience a lot more comfort while just adding a little bit of weight. The HOKA ONE ONE Rocket X weighs just 210 grams in US size 9.
The CMEVA FOAM midsole provides effective cushioning and a lot of feel for the underground. This midsole works closely together with the one millimetre Carbon plate. This Carbon plate ensures an energetic feel when running. It lets the feet go through heel-to-toe transition fast and smoothly. The Rocket X provides less cushioning than you might be used to from HOKA shoes. The design of the Rocket X looks more like a traditional racing flat than a carbon-plated super shoe. Thanks to the slightly wider base the shoe provides a bit more stability than most carbon-plated shoes, and therefore should also be suitable for runners who have a light pronation.
Instead of having a full-length outsole the HOKA ONE ONE Rocket X features strategically placed rubber parts on the sole. Thanks to this the shoes aren't weighed down with a lot of extra rubber. Even though the outsole is kept minimal, you'll still experience a lot of grip when running on wet roads or when taking bends at high speeds. The new HOKA ONE ONE Rocket X is an ideal competition shoe for running very fast 10 kilometres or half marathons. On top of that it is one of the best priced carbon shoes.
