The CMEVA FOAM midsole provides effective cushioning and a lot of feel for the underground. This midsole works closely together with the one millimetre Carbon plate. The Rocket X provides less cushioning than you might be used to from HOKA shoes. The design of the Rocket X looks more like a traditional racing flat than a carbon-plated super shoe. Thanks to the slightly wider base the shoe provides a bit more stability than most carbon-plated shoes, and therefore should also be suitable for runners who have a light pronation.

Instead of having a full-length outsole the HOKA Rocket X features strategically placed rubber parts on the sole. Thanks to this the shoes aren't weighed down with a lot of extra rubber. Even though the outsole is kept minimal, you'll still experience a lot of grip when running on wet roads or when taking bends at high speeds.
