This second edition of the Altra Rivera has received an update to the upper. The Mesh upper has been improved and now sits softer and more supple around the foot. In addition, the heel counter is firmer compared to the predecessor. This makes "heel slipping" a thing of the past.

Altra is known for their Slim FootShape™, which provides an extra roomy forefoot. This can also be found in the Altra Rivera 2, allowing your toes to move freely and naturally. The AltraEGO midsole provides soft and responsive cushioning for both the novice and advanced runner.
