Every Altra shoe is built on a Balanced Cushioned platform that positions the heel and forefoot equidistant from the ground, with 0mm offset, or ZeroDrop™. This natural base encourages better alignment, a better running form, and a low-impact landing. Whether you prefer maximum cushioning, low cushioning, or something in between, Balanced Cushioning lets your feet move naturally with every step.

Midsole

The midsole is made of Altra’s EGO™ foam, which is designed to make your run as comfortable as possible, no matter how far you run. It is a slightly firmer foam that provides sufficient energy return. The Escalante has a Standard FootShape™ fit, which does not restrict the movement of the foot, but still fits comfortably around the foot. The foam features Innerflex™ technology. This is a grid of slots that cuts through the entire midsole, both vertically and horizontally. This reduces the weight and dramatically increases the flexibility of the shoe without sacrificing cushioning.

Upper

The upper is made of technical knitted mesh. The breathability of the upper keeps your feet comfortable.

Outsole
