Extra padding at the tongue and collar keeps your feet comfortable. The mesh upper keeps your feet cool while you run your miles. Nike placed a special mesh on the upper, which is stronger and more flexible than regular mesh, for a light feel and ventilation. The midsole is Nike React, a light, strong foam for a smooth, responsive running experience. The material absorbs impact during landing and distributes it across your feet. On take-off, you get that energy back for an energetic feel. The Pegasus 39 is designed for every type of neutral runner, whether you are a forefoot, mid-foot or heeled runner.
The forefoot contains a Zoom Air unit. This unit is filled with air that is under a certain pressure. This unit springs in upon landing and springs back upon impact. The Zoom Air unit is positioned higher and therefore closer to your foot in the Pegasus 39. This gives more responsiveness. This means that you get more energy back from the energy you put in each stride than in average running shoes.
The heel is designed to optimise the landing for a smooth transition from heel to toe. This is combined with thick foam for a responsive experience. There is still a hint of the iconic waffle pattern that Nike as a brand became known for in its younger years. This pattern provides grip on both dry and wet surfaces.
