Compared to its predecessor, the Gaviota 4 has a softer heel cap and shoe lip. Reinforcements have also been made at the eyelets. These updates have improved the fit around the foot. The CMEVA midsole has remained the same and provides maximum cushioning with every step.

The stability of the Gaviota 4 comes from the unique J-Frame technology, in which firmer foam is placed on the inner foot side with extra rubber for durability. This results in a comfortable running experience without adding weight or material.
