Each Altra shoe is built on a Balanced Cushioned platform that positions the heel and forefoot equidistant from the ground, so with 0mm offset, or ZeroDrop™. This natural foundation encourages better alignment, a better running style and a low-impact landing. Whether you prefer maximum cushioning, low cushioning or something in between, Balanced Cushioning lets your feet move naturally with every step.

Midsole

The Provision has a Standard FootShape™ fit, which does not restrict the movement of the foot, but still fits comfortably around the foot. The midsole is made of Altra's EGO™ foam. This foam is specially designed to make your run as comfortable as possible, regardless of the distance. It is a slightly harder foam with good energy return. The Innerflex™ technology has been applied to the foam. This is the grid of slots that cut through the entire midsole, both vertically and horizontally. This makes the shoe lighter and more flexible without sacrificing cushioning. To ensure that you get the right support during your runs, the shoe uses the GuideRail™ support system. This technology is designed to provide support and pronation control when you start to get tired, but doesn't really affect you when you're running normally. To top it all off, the ORTHOLITE™ insole ensures comfortable entry with long-lasting cushioning. Open cells in the sole keep your feet cool while running.

Upper

The Engineered Mesh upper provides flexibility and breathability in strategic places, while in other places the shoe is a bit tighter. The shoe is a bit tighter around the midfoot for a secure and supportive feeling.

Outsole
