Midsole

The midsole is made of Altra's EGO™ foam. This foam is specially designed to make your run as comfortable as possible, regardless of the distance. It is a somewhat firmer foam with good energy return. The Escalante Racer 2 features a Standard FootShape™ fit, which does not restrict foot movement yet fits comfortably around the foot. Innerflex™ technology has been applied to the foam. This is a grid of grooves that cuts through the entire midsole, both vertically and horizontally. This reduces weight and dramatically increases the flexibility of the shoe without compromising on cushioning.

Upper

In strategic places, the Engineered Mesh upper provides flexibility and breathability, while in other areas the shoe fits a bit tighter. The shoe is somewhat tighter around the midfoot for a secure and supportive feel.

Outsole

The shoe's rubber outsole ensures good grip and traction while running. FootPod™ technology is incorporated into the outsole. This maps the bones and tendons of the foot and ensures that the shoe can bend and move naturally.
