QUESTIONS ABOUT RUNNING AND CORONA
We can imagine that you have a number of questions about running while the new restrictions are in place. 21RUN has collected the most frequently asked questions about running during Covid.
DOES THE INTENSITY OF MY WORKOUTS HAVE AN IMPACT ON MY HEALTH?
Yes, intensive workouts temporarily weaken the immune system. This makes you more susceptible to viruses. We therefore recommend that you reduce the intensity of your training. Enjoy running and put less focus on goals and times.
Most of my races have been canceled, HOW CAN I SET challenging NEW GOALS NOW?
The main goal that counts now is that you stay healthy and fit. Most of the races that were coming up have been canceled, so there’s no need to really push yourself to your limits. The risk of setting challenging goals is that you will overstrain your body. Take a different approach to running in these challenging times. Try to place more stress on enjoying the outdoors and enjoying your health.
IS IT SAFE TO run WITH A SMALL GROUP?
At the moment it is only allowed to run outside with one person from another household as long as you stick to the 2 metre distance rule. Nevertheless, we recommend you to go out alone as much as possible. Running alone just is the most responsible option at the moment. Try to keep as much distance as possible from other runners you might encounter and stick to large open areas where it is easy to keep your social distancing.
HOW CAN I MAKE RUNNING MORE FUN WHEN I HAVE TO RUN ALONE?
Enjoy nature and your surroundings! You can also use your surroundings for your training by, for example, accelerating between tree and lamppost. Listening to music or a podcast can also help you enjoy your runs more. Make sure that you stay safe though. With Aftershokz headphone, for instance, you can listen to music and still hear your surroundings, because they don’t block up the ear canals.
WHAT EXERCISES CAN I DO AT HOME TO IMPROVE MY Running PERFORMANCE?
Strength is a good form of training to integrate into your training schedule. It is good for your stamina and helps you prevent, or recover from, injuries. 21RUN has put together a strength training workout that you can easily do at home. View the workout .

The Corona virus disrupts daily life considerably. Some sport have only a few restrictions where others have even been cancelled. That is why more and more people turn to running. But when are you actually a beginner when it comes to running? You are definitely not the only one, if you have never exercised or haven’t done any running before. Enthusiastic swimmers, fanatic powerlifters and recreational tennis players are often also part of the beginner category. If normally you exercise several days a week, you will definitely have a good base condition and a fit body. Running burdens your body in a different way though.
We have set up a running training for each beginners group. A running schedule is not an obligation, but it is a very sensible guideline to get your body used to monotonous muscle strain. Find out which schedules suit you best.
