We offer a wide variety of running shoes. Each shoe has its own characteristics. Then how to know what is the difference between various models? To help you out, 21RUN presents the Our Expert’s Opinion column. This column helps you get a better insight into the different characteristics of specific running shoe models and helps you find your perfect pair.

In the Our Expert’s Opinion column our running experts rate shoe models on a number of decisive elements. Do you already know which characteristics your new running shoes should have? Use Our Expert’s Opinion to check if the model you’re looking at meets your demands.

Pronation
The degree of pronation indicates the extent to which a model provides support for overpronating runners. If the orange bar is on the far right, the model gives a high degree of correction. If the orange bar is on the far left, the model does not correct. Neutral runners don’t need a correction, overpronating runners often do need a certain degree of correction.

Support
The level of support indicates to what extent the shoe supports your foot arch. The amount of support needed is closely connected to ones weight. If the orange bar is on the far left, the shoe provides little support, making the shoe more suitable for lighter runners. If the orange bar is on the far right, the shoe gives a lot of support; thereby making the shoe very suitable for heavier runners.

Cushioning
The level of cushioning indicates the extent to which a shoe absorbs shocks that occur during landing phase. If the orange bar is on the far left, the shoe provides little cushioning. When wearing running shoes that provide little cushioning, you experience a lot of ground contact and responsiveness. If the orange bar is on the far right, the shoe provides a lot of cushioning. When wearing shoes with a lot of cushioning you will experience a softer running feel, but less ground contact and less responsiveness.

Responsiveness
The level of responsiveness indicates how energetic a running shoe feels. This often is also referred to as the degree of reactivity. If the orange bar is on the far left, the shoe is less responsive. If the orange bar is on the far right, the shoe is very responsive. When a shoe is responsive the energy of the landing phase is returned to you during take-off.

Description HOKA ONE ONE Clifton Edge Women

The HOKA ONE ONE Clifton Edge for women are neutral running shoes. This new model is part of HOKA's GLIDE-collection. The running shoes in the GLIDE collection offer maximum cushioning and are as light in weight as possible. This makes the shoes ideal for your daily runs. The Air Mesh upper comfortably encloses the feet. It provides support and stability, but is also highly breathable thanks to its open structure. The heel counter is a real eye-catcher in this model. The narrow and high heel-tab shapes itself around the Achilles tendons to ensure freedom of movement as well as support. You can also use it as a sort of pull-tab when putting on the shoes.

Another striking element of the Clifton Edge is the protruding heel part and the wide base of the shoes. The EVA midsole is quite wide, which becomes very clear when looking down to the shoes. This broad base provides a lot of stability when running without correcting the feet. This ensures a confident feel.

The extra long heel is also there for a reason of course. It helps to attenuate shocks effectively when landing over the heel. This reduces the impact on the lower legs and knees, and makes the shoes ideal for runners who land over their heels. When you're a mid or forefoot lander this protrusion doesn't hinder your transition. The weight of the shoes makes the shoes very comfortable and also makes them very suitable for daily use.
