Expert Opinion
We offer a wide variety of running shoes, each with its own characteristics. Then how to know in what one model is different from another? To help you with this, we at 21Run present the Expert Opinion. This helps you get insight into the different characteristics of specific running shoe models.

The Expert Opinion is the way in which our running experts rate the model on a number of important elements. Do you already know which characteristics your new running shoes should have? Use the Expert Opinion to check if they meet your demands.

Degree of Pronation
The degree of pronation indicates the extent to which a model provides support for overpronating runners. If the orange bar is on the far right, the model gives a high degree of correction. If the orange bar is on the far left, the model does not correct. Neutral runners don’t need a correction, overpronating runners often do need a certain degree of correction.

Level of Support
The support level indicates to what extent the shoe provides support. This is related to the weight of the runner. If the orange bar is on the far left, the shoe provides little support, making the shoe more suitable for lighter runners. If the orange bar is on the far right, the shoe gives a lot of support, making the shoe very suitable for heavier runners.

Level of Cushioning
The cushioning level indicates the extent to which the shoe absorbs shocks that occur during landing phase. If the orange bar is on the far left, the shoe provides little cushioning. When wearing running shoes that provide little cushioning, you experience a lot of ground contact and responsiveness. If the orange bar is on the far right, the shoe provides a lot of cushioning. When wearing shoes with a lot of cushioning you will experience a softer running feel, but less ground contact and less responsiveness.

Level of Responsiveness
The level of responsiveness indicates how energetic a running shoe feels. We also call this the degree of reactivity. If the orange bar is on the far left, the shoe is less responsive. If the orange bar is on the far right, the shoe is very responsive. When a shoe is responsive you get back the energy you put into your stride during take-off phase.

Description HOKA ONE ONE Challenger ATR 5 GTX Men

The HOKA ONE ONE Challenger ATR 5 for men are comfortable, neutral running shoes. The Challenger ATR 5 is the fifth version of the HOKA ONE ONE's All Terrain series. These versatility shoes have been designed for running on different types of surfaces and are suitable from asphalt runs to trail runs. The shoes also offer protection in all weather conditions. The Challenger ATR 5 has become more flexible than its predecessor and lets you get closer to the terrain you are running on.

The GORE-TEX upper is waterproof, keeps your feet dry and offers protection against grit. The sturdy part at the front of the shoes protects the toes from rocks and pebbles. The EVA midsole is twice as thick as those of other running shoes and thereby provides more comfort and cushioning. The Meta-Rocker midsole ensures more forward propulsion and a higher energy return.

The Podular outsole ensures a lot of stability. The clefts at the back of the renewed outsole have been placed closely together and thereby provide you with a softer and more consistent feel when running. The clefts underneath the forefoot have been placed further apart and thereby ensure more grip and traction. The HOKA ONE ONE Challenger ATR 5 provides a comfortable feel when running on different surfaces.
