Health First

All three watches feature various options for tracking your health, namely: Body Battery, Pulse Ox and Incident Detection. The Body Battery function calculates your energy level with heart rate, stress level, sleeping cycle and activity tracker data. The Pulse Ox function measures the oxygen level in your blood. With this data the watch gives insight into how your body responds to activities and stress. This then can be used to give you a detailed account of your Body Battery.

Next to measuring your health stats the watch also helps to ensure your safety with the Incident detection function. In case of an emergency, after for instance a fall, the watch will send an automated text message and email in which your name and real-time location are shared to your personal emergency contact(s). This is done via the connection with your phone and only works when paired with your phone. The message can be send manually as well as automatically. In case of an error this message can be cancelled 30 seconds after sending it. Incident detection can be used for hiking, running and cycling.

Your Personal Guide

Thanks to the animated workouts, the watches allow you to train without a coach. Different workouts can be followed on the watch’s display. The Venu and Vivoactive 4(s) offer strength, cardio, yoga and Pilates workouts. Especially for runners, the watches also offer Garmin Coach. Garmin Coach lets you access training plans for a 5k, 10k or a half marathon. These training schedules are adapted to your performances during your workouts and thereby will always provide you with a personalised training schedule. Next to the animated workouts the watches offer more than 20 built-in activities: from hiking, running, cycling and swimming, to golf and yoga.

So, What is the Difference then?

Up to now we have mainly talked about the similarities between the three watches. But in what do they actually differ? When seeing the watches next to each other this immediately becomes clear: the Venu features an Amoled display. This display ensures constant brightness and excellent video quality. The Vivoactive 4 and 4s have a Chroma display. The difference in displays has a big impact on the battery life: where the Venu’s battery lasts up to 5 days in smartwatch mode, the less energy-demanding display of the Vivoactive knows to extend this up to 8 days. The watches also differ in size:

  • The Vivoactive 4s with a size of 40 x 40 x 12.7 mm is the smallest
  • The Venu with of 43 x 43 x 12 mm is the in-between model
  • The Vivoactive 4 with a size of 45.1 x 45.1 x 12.8 mm is the largest

“The world is you.”

The Garmin Venu and the Vivoactive 4 revolve around your sports activities, your body, your health and about who you are.
