Why partner up with ISS? ISS and adidas link up their innovative mindset in this project. NASA astronauts are experimenting with adidas’ BOOST material. They specifically are experimenting with different ways to shape BOOST material. We have already seen that the BOOST material in the Boost HD and the Pulseboost HD is shaped differently than the BOOST material in the Ultraboost. The collaboration between adidas and ISS opens a new door for developing BOOST material. These developments are there to give runners a new experience during their future runs, but also to employ BOOST material in space travel.
Never Change a Winning Team
The Ultraboost now stands for responsiveness. After the original, it took four years for a new model of the Ultraboost to appear. In those four years, adidas has worked hard on optimizing their BOOST material. That worked out well. The BOOST material was optimized in such a way that it returned 20% more energy than the material used in the original 2015 model. Because of the positive experiences, adidas decided to keep this BOOST material at the same level of responsiveness. Next to not changing the BOOST material, the adidas Ultraboost 20 also has kept its Continental rubber wear-resistant outsole. The combination of BOOST material and Continental rubber ensures that you can smoothly go through transition and that the shoes are very flexible.
The Sky isn’t the Limit
The adidas Ultraboost 20 is not just the epitome of innovation, but also of comfort. The new upper is made of Primeknit+ fabric. The Ultraboost 20 also features the Tailored Fiber Placement stitching technique, also found in the Solarboost. The stitching material is lightweight and features recycled plastic. The stitching has been precisely positioned to provide support. The Primeknit+ textile and the Tailored Fiber Placement create a snug fit. To offer sufficient freedom of movement, the 3D heel piece has been made as minimalistic as possible, without surrendering it supportive qualities.

The Ultraboost 20 is the product of a special partnership between adidas and the Internation Space Station. This might sound a bit complex. However, adidas has managed to keep the Ultraboost 20 effective and simple, just like its predecessor.
