We offer a wide variety of running shoes. Each shoe has its own characteristics. Then how to know what is the difference between various models? To help you out, 21RUN presents the Our Expert’s Opinion column. This column helps you get a better insight into the different characteristics of specific running shoe models and helps you find your perfect pair.
In the Our Expert’s Opinion column our running experts rate shoe models on a number of decisive elements. Do you already know which characteristics your new running shoes should have? Use Our Expert’s Opinion to check if the model you’re looking at meets your demands.
The degree of pronation indicates the extent to which a model provides support for overpronating runners. If the orange bar is on the far right, the model gives a high degree of correction. If the orange bar is on the far left, the model does not correct. Neutral runners don’t need a correction, overpronating runners often do need a certain degree of correction.
The level of support indicates to what extent the shoe supports your foot arch. The amount of support needed is closely connected to ones weight. If the orange bar is on the far left, the shoe provides little support, making the shoe more suitable for lighter runners. If the orange bar is on the far right, the shoe gives a lot of support; thereby making the shoe very suitable for heavier runners.
The level of cushioning indicates the extent to which a shoe absorbs shocks that occur during landing phase. If the orange bar is on the far left, the shoe provides little cushioning. When wearing running shoes that provide little cushioning, you experience a lot of ground contact and responsiveness. If the orange bar is on the far right, the shoe provides a lot of cushioning. When wearing shoes with a lot of cushioning you will experience a softer running feel, but less ground contact and less responsiveness.
The level of responsiveness indicates how energetic a running shoe feels. This often is also referred to as the degree of reactivity. If the orange bar is on the far left, the shoe is less responsive. If the orange bar is on the far right, the shoe is very responsive. When a shoe is responsive the energy of the landing phase is returned to you during take-off.
The Nike React Infinity Run for women are all-round running shoes. This new Nike model presents a new view on stability and overpronation. The shoes have been designed with injury prevention in mind. You, of course, don't just prevent injuries with a good pair of shoes. It is a good place to start though. These shoes, therefore, feature many technologies that help you stay injury free.
The React Infinity Run doesn't feature traditional technologies such as an overpronation block, medial post or any comparable techniques. The React Infinity provides stability for overpronating runners, but the shoes are also very suitable for neutral runners. These shoes are ideal for your daily runs.
The Flyknit upper is made of one single piece and has a sock-like feel to it. This makes the upper very comfortable. The Flyknit material used in the upper has become less stretchy. It still follows the feet's movement, but encloses the feet better and offers more stability. The forefoot provides enough room to the toes to ensure a natural range of motions.
The React foam is very responsive and provides effective cushioning. It returns energy every step of the way and divides pressure over the feet. The React cushioning material is light of weight, provides a soft running experience and is very durable. The Infinity has a wide mid and outsole; this ensures a lot of stability. Together with the supportive upper, the heel clip and the composition of the foam in the midsole, the wide sole provides the necessary stability for overpronating as well as neutral runners. The foam in the forefoot and the heel provides a soft feel and some additional cushioning. At the foot arch you can clearly feel that the sole is harder and sturdier. This special composition guides the feet through a stable and smooth transition without really correcting them.
The outsole features a rocker geometry, or a light curve. This encourages a flexible transition of the feet. The rubber outsole increases the durability of the sole. The grooves in the sole provide flexibility and grip when running. The Infinity supports you when running without really correcting you. This makes the Infinity an ideal shoe for runners who overpronate lightly as well as neutral runners, no matter the distance.
