We offer a wide variety of running shoes. Each shoe has its own characteristics. Then how to know what is the difference between various models? To help you out, 21RUN presents the Our Expert’s Opinion column. This column helps you get a better insight into the different characteristics of specific running shoe models and helps you find your perfect pair.
In the Our Expert’s Opinion column our running experts rate shoe models on a number of decisive elements. Do you already know which characteristics your new running shoes should have? Use Our Expert’s Opinion to check if the model you’re looking at meets your demands.
The degree of pronation indicates the extent to which a model provides support for overpronating runners. If the orange bar is on the far right, the model gives a high degree of correction. If the orange bar is on the far left, the model does not correct. Neutral runners don’t need a correction, overpronating runners often do need a certain degree of correction.
The level of support indicates to what extent the shoe supports your foot arch. The amount of support needed is closely connected to ones weight. If the orange bar is on the far left, the shoe provides little support, making the shoe more suitable for lighter runners. If the orange bar is on the far right, the shoe gives a lot of support; thereby making the shoe very suitable for heavier runners.
The level of cushioning indicates the extent to which a shoe absorbs shocks that occur during landing phase. If the orange bar is on the far left, the shoe provides little cushioning. When wearing running shoes that provide little cushioning, you experience a lot of ground contact and responsiveness. If the orange bar is on the far right, the shoe provides a lot of cushioning. When wearing shoes with a lot of cushioning you will experience a softer running feel, but less ground contact and less responsiveness.
The level of responsiveness indicates how energetic a running shoe feels. This often is also referred to as the degree of reactivity. If the orange bar is on the far left, the shoe is less responsive. If the orange bar is on the far right, the shoe is very responsive. When a shoe is responsive the energy of the landing phase is returned to you during take-off.
The HOKA ONE ONE EVO Speedgoat for women are trail running shoes. These trail shoes are ideal for running trails and fell runs thanks to the excellent grip and because they are extremely light in weight. These two features, the excellent grip and the minimal amount of weight, enable you to go fast on technical trails. The EVO Speedgoat has the outsole of HOKA's famous Speedgoat models and the upper of a racing shoe.
The upper is made of MATRYX material and is very thin and strong. The synthetic fibres that enclose the midfoot, provide a lot of stability and withstand the impact of stones, branches and other things encountered along the way. The material of the upper has been treated with a water-repellent coating and therefore doesn't retain moisture. To ensure an excellent fit the upper provides ventilation to the bridge of the foot and is made very flexible at the forefoot.
The midsole and outsole are the same as those found in HOKA ONE ONE's Speedgoat model. The lightweight CMEVA cushioning material attenuates shocks effectively. The wide base of the shoe, also seen in the regular Speedgoat model, ensures a stable and confident running experience. The Vibram MegaGrip outsole has cleats with a 5 mm length. These cleats, but also the grooves in the outsole ensure that the shoes bite into the surface and that they guide away water effectively. Thanks to this you will experience a lot of grip when running on dry as well as wet surfaces.
