Most of these changes make the shoes even lighter in weight than they already were. These Ekiden editions of the Zoom Pegasus 36 feature a special colour design which pays homage to the Ekiden run in Japan. The Hakone Ekiden run is a marathon relay in which different university teams compete in a run from Tokyo to Hakone. The race has a total distance of almost 218 kilometres.

The shoe's sockliner adapts itself to the feet for a personalized and comfortable fit. The outsole's pattern has been improved and now offers more grip and traction on different surfaces.
