Run on clouds

Running in On shoes is like running on clouds; both literally as figuratively. Because the elements in the sole of all On models are called Clouds and because they give you that cloud-like feeling. These Clouds are specially designed to provide runners with a soft landing and explosive take-off. On is the first brand whose shoes only provide cushioning when the runner needs it. Thanks to the CloudTec technique, On knows to create a unique cushioning pattern for every individual runner.

CloudTec Explained

In all On models you’ll find CloudTec in the sole of the shoes. CloudTec consists of three different elements; unique Clouds, Speedboard and Helion.

The unique Clouds form the outsole. These clouds can absorb both horizontal and vertical shocks and therefore make your landing extra soft. Once your feet hit the ground, the Clouds stay firmly in place so you can continue running whilst also enjoying a powerful take-off.

CloudTec also features Speedboard. Speedboard stimulates an efficient gait cycle and has a separate design for each model. In competition shoes, for example, the Speedboard is extra responsive, while in a more supportive model it provides more cushioning.

And the last part of the CloudTec approach is On’s cushioning material which is called Helion. The combination of stiffer and softer pieces gives Helion a unique feel. Helion also is resistant to changing temperatures and therefore very durable.

On Running Shoes

On both offers all-round running shoes and models that are primed for racing or trail running. One thing that immediately stands out though: On’s collection doesn’t feature any stability shoes or shoes for overpronators. However, with their CloudTec technology, On actually does also provide for overpronating runners. The CloudTec system adapts itself to the runner’s gait-style in such a way that it activates the muscles and stabilises the ankles, thereby also catering to the needs of overpronators.
