Changes are simply a part of life and even a real necessity now and then – whether it’s a different hairstyle, some new furniture in your home or a new job. But there are of course also exceptions to this rule. Some things are just good the way they are and hardly need any adaptations. Today’s example: the latest New Balance Fresh Foam 1080v11. Although many elements have stayed the same as in the v10, the v11 is still a very good running shoe.
So, good has become even better! In this new version of the shoe, New Balance choses to stick with the features that were successful in the previous version and to just slightly fine-tune them, to make them function even better. What has changed, and what has stayed the same? Read on to find out!
New Balance Fresh Foam 1080v11 in Detail
Fresh Foam X midsole for ideal cushioning, stability and energy return
Engineered Hypoknit Upper material for a soft and supportive fit
The Bootie construction encloses the feet for a snug and supportive fit
Ultra heel-Design fits snugly around the heel and ensures a good, supportive feel
Blown Rubber Outsole
Strong and Flexible
Nothing has changed when it comes to the outsole of the Fresh Foam 1080v11. Blown rubber forms the core material of the outsole, as was the case in the previous versions. From the v10 model onwards, and also present in this v11 model, is the very light outsole. This outsole is lighter than all version preceding the v10, but still knows to offer excellent cushioning. The special tread pattern on and grooves in the outsole provide you with good grip and flexibility. The crash pad on the heel is perfect for runners who land over their heels and helps ensure a smooth transition.
Never change a winning team
Just like the outsole, the midsole of the V11 has hardly changed. Fresh Foam X material is also used in this new version’s midsole. This foam is lighter and softer than the usual Fresh Foam material and offers maximum cushioning without surrendering responsiveness. Two components are particularly important here: the EVA material and the three-dimensional structure.
New Balance employs wear-resistant EVA material when developing Fresh Foam X. By using a special technology they are able to make a unique composition of the EVA material components. The soles are pressed together by heat, creating a lighter, more resilient foam.
In addition, New Balance uses special software to create various geometric shapes in the midsole. Depending on the function and area of application of the shoe, different “laser treatments” are used. In addition, different zones are integrated into the sole. Some areas are denser, others are more open, depending on how much impact the sole has to absorb. This laser pattern has been improved on the new 1080v11 and ensures a first-class look and feel.
All of these techniques work together to provide ideal cushioning, stability and energy return when running.
Finishing Touch
A large update in this version is found in the upper. The Engineered Hypoknit upper offers a softer fit that gives you more support. This upper is also more breathable and flexible. While the 1080v10 had embroidered material on the medial and lateral sides of the foot arch, the 1080v11 has a larger “N” logo that does the same. Other features that stayed the same are: the tongue, the stretchy fabric of the upper material and the moulded heel cap. The UltraHeel technology ensures an excellent, supportive fit while employing less material.
Cushioning, comfort and stability
The 1080 versions have long been particularly popular with neutral runners. They are and will remain great all-round running shoes for daily training. Thanks to the reactive Fresh Foam material, the comfortable upper material and the support all around the heel, you can enjoy luxurious comfort even on longer runs.
