The Saucony Kinvara has been known for years as the link between all-round running shoes and competition shoes. Because unlike most competition shoes the Kinvara offers an amount of cushioning which is usually just found in all-round running shoes. Also for the Kinvara 11, Saucony has continued the trend of minimizing rubber on the outsole. As shown on the pictures, a small piece of rubber is added to the toe and heel parts of the outsole. These are exactly the places where you need that bit of extra grip. It helps to smoothen out the transition of the feet. Other benefits are that the sole keeps its flexibility and no extra weight is added to the outsole. These parts of the outsole also make the shoes durable because they are fitted onto the parts that experience most friction.
The Ideal Mix
The midsole is the part of the Kinvara which has undergone a major change. The EVERUN material has been exchanged for the new PWRRUN material. This is a specially developed mix of TPU and EVA material. The PWRRUN midsole provides a high energy return and more durability. PWRRUN is lighter and more flexible than EVERUN. Nothing prevents you from running your new PB. It makes the shoe suitable for your daily trainings or for a long distance competition run. You might expect that the PWRRUN material would make the shoes lighter in weight, but this isn’t the case. By adding some extras to the upper, the benefit of the lighter midsole material is nullified.
Fits Snugly Around the Feet
The upper of the Saucony Kinvara 11 has been designed to shape itself after your feet. The shoes have an excellent fit thanks to the FORMFIT technology. The tongue and heel cap have become thicker and softer thanks to this new material. The Engineered Mesh, which is incorporated into the fabric, ensures that the shoes breathe and that the shoes continue to feel comfortable, also in the long term. Strategic perforations have been placed on the top of the forefoot for additional ventilation. The toebox of the shoes is made of more flexible material. As mentioned earlier, this extra material in the upper provides extra weight. However you hardly notice this. What you do notice is that the Kinvara 11’s upper encloses your feet very comfortably.
