And here she is. Not the Guide ISO 3, but the Saucony Guide 13. The thirteenth version of Saucony’s most important running shoe for overpronators has dumped its ISO upper and added new innovative technologies. So, it’s not just the name that is different, but the whole shoe has taken an enormous leap into the future.
Saucony’s Guide running shoes have been a household name in the running world for years. Next to updating their neutral Triumph running shoe (see our previous blog post), Saucony has wisely decided to also update their shoes for overpronators.
About 50% of male and 80% of female runners pronate and need a correction in their shoes. Do you overpronate? In this blog we will explain why the Guide might be the right shoe for you.

Guided ride
One of Saucony’s most important innovations is the Structure Cushioning technology. Instead of adding a hard correction on the inside of the foot, Saucony has chosen to add a part with a supporting structure. This part of the shoe has been designed to provide you with the right amount of support and guidance through the transition-phase of the feet. Important fact: this is done without surrendering cushioning. Experience excellent comfort and support with the Guide 13.
Bye bye ISOFIT
The largest adaptation of the Saucony Guide 13 is found in its upper. The past few year a lot of Saucony running shoes featured ISOFIT material. The coming season this will be replaced with the new FORMFIT material. The engineered mesh has perforation on strategic places to keep the feet breathing. The heel part is less thick and therefore fits snugly around the ankle and provides additional support. The FORMFIT material shapes after the feet and hence knows to prevent pressure points.
The sum of all comfort
The midsole of the Saucony Guide 13 equips the shoes with its cushioning qualities and provides a comfy ride. The midsole is made of a frame of PWRRUN material which is an alloy of TPU and EVA. TPU and EVA are types of plastic which are elastic and durable. This combination of materials makes the shoes very responsive, light of weight and, to keep it simple, just a very comfortable shoe to wear. Added to this is the Triflex Crystal rubber on the outsole. This rubber is durable and features flex grooves, which ensure excellent traction.
All these materials together provide a stable and soft run.
Off-road options
You find it difficult to find stability shoes for your off-road adventures? Don’t look any further because here are the Guide 13 TR’s. From December onwards Running.shop will have the trail versions of the Guide 13 in stock for both men and women.
These shoes cleverly combine the above described technologies with a sturdy outsole featuring strategically placed cleats. These trail shoes allow you to leave the road and face any type of surface with confidence.
“I run for good”
Next to a wide range of running shoes and running gear, Saucony also supports a large running-community named ‘The Good Runners’. Check out Good Runner Katie Crowell’s story here; a truly inspiring woman who uses running as her medicine.
